In the final weekend of October, the Boston College Eagles went on the road to face the then No19-ranked Louisville Cardinals in Kentucky, ultimately losing 24 – 38.

Two Top 25 teams won in OT, Texas over Mississippi State and Virginia over North Carolina. The others were Western Kentucky over Louisiana Tech, Missouri State over New Mexico and Temple over Tulsa in one OT and Virginia Tech over California and Rice over UConn in double overtime.

The Eagles kept it close, but they allowed 504 total yards and 317 rushing yards in their defeat against the Cardinals.

While admitting that this season hasn't been the year Boston College fans expected, Boston College head coach Bill O'Brien kept it candid in his weekly press conference on Tuesday. He said that the team has four more "guaranteed opportunities" ahead of them for wins, with Notre Dame being one of them.
