Sen. Fattman halts Senate session to protest Healey blaming Trump for government shutdown
BOSTON ― Unhappy with what he views as a political blame game being spread by taxpayer-funded state communications, state Sen. Ryan Fattman shut down the Senate’s session after just a few minutes Monday, Oct. 27, and suggested he might do the same Oct. 30 unless the messaging changes.
Two-thirds of Kansas Senators signed a petition to call a special session to gerrymander Kansas. The House hasn't made a similar announcement, yet.

Alabama Senate Democrats urge Ivey to call special session to address food stamp suspension
The federal government shutdown has caused the suspension of SNAP benefits for November, assistance that goes to about 750,000 Alabamians.
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WHNT) — Alabama Senate Democrats sent a letter to Gov. Kay Ivey on Monday asking for her to call a special session. The SNAP food assistance program is set to shut down Saturday. Until the federal government reopens, some leaders said the state can help provide those food benefits.

Kansas Senate secures signatures for special redistricting session, House approval still needed

The Kansas Legislature is one step closer to convening for a special session focused on “redistricting and other time-sensitive issues.”
